Preparing for a Speedy Move

Ideally you’ll want to be planning your house move weeks, if not months, in advance. House-moving is a long and stressful process, but putting in the time and effort will pay-off when it comes to the big day.  Planning will ensure you have plenty of time to gather together the necessary packing materials, find a reliable and affordable removal company and still leave enough time for you to make a good job of packing up your home. However, things don’t necessarily work out as easy as that, and you could find yourself in a situation that requires you to have your whole house ready and packed in a matter of days. Whether you’ve just been too busy to keep on top of your house move, or if you suddenly find yourself victim of a change of plans, if you’re running out of time to get prepped and ready for a move, then take a look at this guide for some ideas to help you out when it comes to packing in a rush!1)    Although boxes are the preferable way to cart your belongings from one house to another, if you simply haven’t got the time to source, reinforce or pack boxes, then there are plenty of other options. -    Bin bags. Bin bags are cheap and readily available. Non-breakable items such as cushions, pillows, duvets and clothes can be transported using bags. You might want to double-up if what you’re carrying is heavy so as to decrease the chances of the bag splitting! Be aware that you’ll probably have a lot of ironing to do after you’ve settled into your new home, but if you’re in a hurry to leave your current home then you have little choice!-    Storage boxes. Under-the-bed storage boxes are a great way to pack up shoes, books, DVDs and random bits you find lying around the house.  Chances are you have a few plastic storage boxes, so make the most of them! -    Drawers. If you’re moving furniture with you then remove the drawers beforehand. Drawers can be filled with the odd bits you have, and they can easily be stacked on-top of one another to ensure safe travel.-    Suitcases. Suitcases are a great way to move not only clothes, but also heavier or bulkier items such as books or files. Suitcases make it easy to drag heavy loads, and it’s likely your friends and family can lend you their suitcases to give you a bit of help!2)    Enlist the help of friends and family to give you a hand when it comes to loading and unloading your possessions. 3)    Ideally you want to have invested some time in researching removal companies to find the best available prices and so as to avoid scams. However, if you haven’t got the time then cut down on your chances of getting duped by hiring a company through your local phone book, or on the recommendation of friends. Be aware that removal companies receive bookings way in advance, so you might struggle to find yourself a man with a van! If you’re lucky enough to find yourself the help, many removal companies might charge you extra for the late notice, so don’t forget to ask about hidden charges!
